Much like the great philosopher of our time, Harry Styles, says, "Ready, Steady, Go!" We are ready, for three years we have been stead, and now it's time to go. The final vote to approve the Santa Clara Family Community (formerly the Benton Project) on Tuesday at 7pm (ish).
The City Council Agenda Item (with attachments) and Agenda Packet (page 888) were posted, including the final agreement, and we are so excited with how it turned out! The agreement reflects the concerns of the community and Council Members and is designed to see this project succeed.
There are 3 main ways we are asking for your support:
1. Email City Council
You can use this email template and these talking points for help.
Thank you to Destination: Home, Housing Choices, SV@Home, All Home, and all the individuals who have already sent messages and copied us.
2. Join our Public Supporters list
Allow us to include you in our Supporters Packet and on the Supporters page of our website to demonstrate how much support this project has! Organizations should ideally write a letter to be included. The physical size of the packet seemed to have an impact in the past. Individuals can join the list through this form.
3. Attend the Santa Clara City Council Meeting on Tuesday, July 14 beginning at 7:00pm
In person: City Hall Council Chambers 1500 Warburton Avenue Santa Clara, CA 95050
Be sure to wear GREEN. The visual of an organized crowd supporting the project will have a major impact.
We plan to go with a "less is more" approach to public comment, with 1-2 SCHA leaders speaking on behalf of the Group, along with staff of organizations in support of the project, and elected officials or their staff if they choose. We do not expect to be competing with hours of public comment from residents opposing the site, so no need to prepare a comment, just show up wearing green.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions, and we hope to see you on Tuesday to finish what we started and see this project finally get started!
